Bree graduated from Fayetteville University with her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and then earned her Master of Science in Criminal Justice, graduating summa cum laude, with a 4.0 GPA for each degree. While in undergraduate school, she was chosen and inducted into the National Honor Society’s Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. And she did all of this while working full-time.
Mrs. Ward attended law school at Elon University School of Law on a full academic scholarship. While attending Elon University, she was an active member of the school’s Moot Court Board, a member of Phi Alpha Delta, the Criminal Law Society, and became a certified community mediator. She continues to serve as an adjunct professor with Elon Law school, coaching students at National Moot Court competitions, which are designed to test their skills at appellate advocacy, based on problems dealing with criminal and appellate procedure.
Mrs. Ward had two judicial clerkships while studying at Elon: one with the Honorable Judge James L. Gale of the North Carolina Business Court and the other with the Honorable Chief Judge William L. Osteen, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. She also interned with the Guilford County District Attorney’s Office. There, she conducted multiple district court trials and assisted in two first-degree murder trials.
In her free time, Mrs. Ward enjoys spending time with her three kids, painting, rock-climbing, hiking, wake boarding, and snowboarding. In 2016, she and her family became SCUBA certified and went on their first ocean dive together.
