Molly Brazil is an experienced North Carolina Family Law Attorney. She focuses exclusively on domestic matters including child support, child custody, equitable distribution, domestic violence protective orders, and separation agreements. While litigation can be necessary to reach a resolution in domestic disputes, Molly is known for obtaining extraordinarily negotiated resolutions that spare her clients from even having to enter the courtroom.

Sometimes, legal negotiations can go off the rails and reach a place where it feels like an amicable resolution is no longer plausible. In a recent separation agreement case, after negotiations became emotionally charged, the parties began to feel like they were too far apart to reach an agreement. Molly was able to bring opposing counsel back to a place of common ground and was able to show the parties were closer in their positions than it seemed. After arranging a private mediation, Molly was able to help her client reach a peaceable resolution without the long court battle. Both parties were thrilled with the result. With the legal dispute behind them, both parties were able to shift their focus to co-parenting and raising their children.

When litigation is necessary, Molly enters the courtroom with an unmatched level of preparation. Recently, Molly was able to help lower a father’s child support payment by nearly $200/month despite the fact that the father owed more pursuant to the NC Child Support Guideline calculations. She convinced both the mother and the Court that a lower child support amount was still perfectly sufficient. Now, the father does not have to operate under the pressure of living paycheck to paycheck and the children are adequately provided for. Win, win.

Molly was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. Unwilling to part from the North Carolina mountains, she attended undergrad at Appalachian State in Boone North Carolina. Molly went on to earn her Law Degree from Elon University School of Law where she was honored by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers North Carolina Chapter with an award recognizing her for leadership and excellence in the advancement of Family Law. Molly is continuously inspired by her clients and gets immense satisfaction from seeing them gather their courage and leave sometimes horrendous situations.
