On the night before the 2021 Inauguration, the White House issued a memo granting deportation protection for thousands of undocumented Venezuelans residing in the United States. Under the Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) program, the United States will defer deportation for 18 months for certain Venezuelan nationals present in the U.S. on Jan. 20. It will also allow those Venezuelans the opportunity to get a work permit.
